Rehman Malik says war not in the offing

ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik Wednesday said that leadership of both India and Pakistan were sensible enough and would avoid any decision that might trigger a conflict.

“The leadership and the people of both countries are sensible enough and they do not want war,” he said while talking to media after attending a ceremony held in connection with the 1st Death anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

The ceremony was held at the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) headquarters.

To a question about Ajmal Kasab he said he had already stated that there was no record about him available with NADRA that could prove that he was a Pakistani national. He said any comment about him could be made only when there was any authentic document about him.

He praised the performance of NADRA, saying the authority had been a pro-active partner in the government’s quest for documentation, e-governance, bringing innovative ideas to serve the citizens of the country and to contribute towards the uplift of society.

Rehman Malik said NADRA had contributed towards achievement of Shaheed Benazir’s vision of democracy.

Earlier, The Advisor announced that NADRA would dedicate a complete working day on December 26 for free registration of women at its Swift Registration Centers all over the country as a tribute to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.

He said women’s registration with NADRA was increasing and it was encouraging to note that a few months ago it was only 32 per cent of the total number of registered people but now it stood at 46 percent.
